It’s hard to believe that it has already been four months since we launched our new digital shopping experience for home on Walmart.com aligned with how customers browse and shop the category. We’ve been laser-focused on helping customers save time, effort and money. And when it comes to home shopping, that means making our affordable products more discoverable.
That’s why I’m really excited about a couple of new experiences we’re launching on the site. Specifically, we’re introducing two new ways for customers to browse, discover and be inspired by our amazing home assortment.
3D Virtual Shopping Tour – Starting today, we’re testing a new experience that enables customers to take a virtual shopping tour of a curated apartment showcasing nearly 70 items from both national brands and our private label offerings. As they virtually explore the apartment, customers simply click on different products in each room to get more information. Check it out here or go to Walmart.com/virtualroomtour.
Buy the Room – In July, we’re introducing a completely new way for customers to buy an entire look quickly and easily. We know that many customers shop for their dorm rooms or apartments in the summer months, and we also know that many of them tend to buy certain items together. For the first time, we’re making it possible to add a group of items to cart to buy a complete look. Initially, we’ll have five curated collections with each room featuring up to 20 of the most sought-after items college students search for and purchase. As someone who is obsessed with good design, I would have loved to have such a stylish living space when I was in school.
While we are launching these new features for dorm rooms and small space living, we know that they could have applications elsewhere and will continue to listen to customer feedback to determine how to implement them more broadly on the site. We also continue to build our assortment of great merchandise for all home shoppers, including a new coastal style that is popular with our customers in the summer months.
Since launching the new home experience back in February, we’ve been hearing great feedback from customers commenting on our stylish home décor at affordable prices. That’s music to my ears because it means that the new Shop by Style options, editorial imagery and the way we’ve curated the assortment is working. With the addition of the 3D Virtual Shopping Tour and Buy the Room, browsing and shopping for your home will be even easier.
